The Village of Lindenhurst is located in northern Lake County- 42 miles from the Loop and minutes from the I-94 expressway. The 4.44 square miles of land of which the area encompasses, includes small lakes and parks and the convenience of being nearby local Routes 45 and 83 (north of Rollins Road and south of Illinois Route 173). The village gets its name from the Ernst E. Lehmann farm, known as Lindenhurst. The name Lindenhurst came from the two rows of linden trees outlining the original Lehmann farmhouse. With a population of over 14,000 and a variety of forest preserves that offer a wide variety of walking and bike trails, the area is home to plenty of outdoor space and recreation. The Village’s motto, “Developing Today for Tomorrow,” reflects the community’s attitude concerning local business and the environment. Both of which remain centrally important to residents.
