The next nearest commuter train is the Elgin Metra station, located at 10 miles southeast. Thomas Stillwell and Eliza Fox Huntley arrived with their family to settle the area now known as Huntley in 1846 and purchase large parcels of land. In 1851, the Chicago and Galena Railroad constructed railroad lines through the area known then as Huntley Grove. Residents in the area soon constructed a General Store as more settlers began to move to the Huntley area. The 1980’s began a boom of new home construction and a more suburban style of living took over the area. Huntley continues to grow in population and the town continues to attract new businesses and growing families to the community. A Metra Station has been rumored to planned to be built in the future. Huntley Fall Fest is the annual festival for the whole family in Huntley. The festival includes a car show, pony rides, the One Mile Family Fun Run, food from over ten local vendors, a petting zoo, live music, tractor show, and much more family friendly activities.
