    The Brown Elephant is a resale store operated by Howard Brown Health, with a convenient location not far from these Andersonville homes for sale. A wide range of donations are accepted including clothing, furniture and home goods. All proceeds from the store go toward supporting LGBTQ+ healthcare and funding care for the uninsured and under-insured. In addition to the Andersonville location, the Brown Elephant also operates stores in the Lakeview and Oak Park neighborhoods, making them a short drive from almost anywhere in the city. 

  • Greater Goods Community Thrift - 6025 W Irving Park Rd, Chicago, IL 60634
    Opened during the pandemic and voted the top thrift store in the city by TimeOut Chicago in 2023, Greater Goods Community Thrift is owned and operated by Big Shoulders Church. They accept a wide range of donations, from clothing and shoes to home goods and decor, but it's a good idea to call ahead about large furniture items. Greater Goods Community Thrift has become a great resource for communities on the northwest side of the city, and they're located a stone's throw from many Portage Park homes for sale

  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore Chicago - 6040 N Pulaski Rd, Chicago, IL 60646
    Donating to Habitat for Humanity is always a good option, and Chicago's Habitat for Humanity ReStore has become a popular place to not only donate old furnishings and fixtures but also a place to shop when you're renovating or remodeling your home. Give them a call in advance to confirm that they'll take your donations; certain items may or may not be accepted depending on inventory.   • Jubilee Furniture - 730 E. North Ave, Carol Stream, IL 60188
    Jubilee Furniture is a used furniture store with from Outreach Community Ministries with two locations. Both the original 23,000-square-foot showroom in  Carol Stream and the newer 18,000-square-foot showroom in Lombard are great places to shop for furniture, clothing, household goods, home decor and more.   • Sharing Connections Furniture Bank - 5111 Chase Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515
    Sharing Connections in Downers Grove takes gently used furniture from families and businesses and provides it to families needing assistance. The families served by Sharing Connections include people who have experienced homelessness, those experiencing financial hardship, and those with disabilities as well as victims of fire, flood, natural disasters and others in comparable circumstances.   • Goodwill Store & Donation Center - 1201 W Washington Blvd, Chicago, IL 60607
    An ever-reliable place to offload old furniture and find a wide range of used goods at affordable prices, Goodwill operates more than a dozen locations in the Chicago area. The Goodwill Store & Donation Center on Washington Boulevard is the most convenient to downtown, making it the go-to donation spot for many Chicagoans.
