It's Theater Week in Chicago
Calling all theater fans (or newbies looking to dip their toes). Chicago Theater Week has officially begun. Running from February 16th through February 26th, almost 100 theaters in the local area are participating in special value-priced tickets and dining offers for patrons. Now in its 11th year, Chicago Theater Week will be showcasing performances of all types – from improv to musicals to dramas and beyond. Toni Stone
Comedy, drama
Based on Martha Ackmann's New York Times Critich's Pick, "Curveball, the Remarkable Story of Toni Stone," this play follows the career of Toni Stone, a woman setting out to become the first woman to play in baseball's Negro Leagues after being rejected by the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League because of her race. Throughout the play, she'll face challenges on and off the field that only steel her resolve to shatter sexist and racist barriers in the sport she's loved since childhood. Anna Karenina
Dance
The Joffrey Ballet is welcoming Chicagoland to Anna Karenina, a night of dance based on the novel by Leo Tolstoy. Set in the late 19th century of Russia, the ballet focuses on Anna, a married woman finding herself caught in a life-changing affair with the dashing Count Vronksy. Featuring choreography by Yuri Possokhov and an original score by Ilya Demutsky, this is a can't miss award-winning performance (so tickets are going fast). Check out the performance schedule here.
Extra Yarn

Looking for a show the whole family can enjoy? Look no further than Extra Yarn. In this children's show, Annabell discovers a small wooden box in the snow filled with yarn that seemingly never ends. In an effort to support her community, she knits sweaters for the whole town – but the Archduke isn't loving it. Check out the premiere musical based on the book by Marc Barnet this theater week! Dance Like There's Black People Watching

The cast of Second City is back at it with an ensemble of rising stars looking to keep you warm in this Chicago winter. Chlorine Sky

The Steppenwolf Theater is bringing a world premiere adaptation of the popular young adult novel to the big stage!
