Prep for Grilling Season
One of the best parts of summer is being able to expand your living space to the outdoors. Nothing is better after a long, cold winter than grilling outside and enjoying a meal in the fresh air with your friends and family. However, to have this wonderful meal outdoors you need a grill, and a working one at that.
Before you run out to buy your summer grill, check to see if you have restrictions on what type of grill to buy. If you have a homeowners association, live in an apartment building or even have a wood deck, get a copy of the rules so you don't end up wasting your money.
The most common types of grills are gas, charcoal, and electric. Research each option carefully as this can affect every aspect of your grilling experience. Gas and electric grills are much easier to use, but many consider charcoal the ultimate in grilling flavor. Spend an afternoon going to various hardware and home goods stores and check Consumer Reports to find out what is out there. Then make a list of your grill "must haves." You'll also find that price quickly become a factor to consider. Do you really need side burners and a built in thermometer? Eliminating some of these bonuses will reduce your costs. The most important thing for grill maintenance is keeping it clean. Once the grill has cooled off, scrub the grates with a grill brush. If your grill brush is getting worn, replace it. After cleaning, spray the grates with cooking oil to prevent sticking in the future. Once the grill is cooled and cleaned, cover it to prevent rust and keep your grill looking new and working perfect for longer.Tags:
