In 1832, after the Black Hawk War had ended, the Village of Lisle was first settled by two brothers named James and Luther Hatch. Both brothers began a farming community and soon after other pioneers came to the area attracted by the prime timber, fertile land, and water resources.

The community slowly expanded and by 1839 DuPage County was established and was set apart from Cook County. Residents in 1850 voted to create a township government, dividing the County area into nine townships and making Lisle Township the south central village.  The Burlington and Quincy Railroad company from Chicago in 1864 built the first tracks to Chicago to Aurora with a stop in Lisle.

Over the next several decades, the Lisle Township grew gradually but remained a small a community. Electricity was introduced to the Lisle community in the early 1920s, followed by improved telephone services in the 1940s.

Lisle is home to the Morton Arboretum which was named after the founder of Morton Salt Company, Joy Morton, who donated a portion of his land to help build the botanical garden and preserve the area’s native woodlands.

The Village of Lisle was officially incorporated in 1956 and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2006.

Two key roadways in Lisle are I-88 Reagan Tollway (east-west) and I-355 Tollway (north and south) and provides easy interstate access at Route 53, Ogden Avenue, Maple Avenue, and Naperville Road.  Other neighboring roadways near Lisle include I-294, I-55, I-290, Elgin-O’Hare Expressway, Illinois Route 83, and Route 56.

Lisle is served by Pace Suburban Bus Service, which offers specific bus routes in the village, including services like dial a ride, van pools, and special event buses through 6 suburbs.  Plus, Metra Railroad Service is available for Lisle residents to travel from the village to Chicago.

Grand Victoria Casino 250 S Grove Ave 1-888-508-1900.  Open daily from 8:30 am to 6:30 am.  The casino features popular table games like Baccarat, Blackjack, Roulette, Three Card Poker, Texas Hold ‘Em Poker, and Caribbean Stud, including more than 1,000 slot machines and Craps tables.  Enjoy a night of fine dining at Buckinghams Steakhouse and Lounge, or grab a quick bite to eat at the Grand Victoria Buffet.

The Comedy Shrine 22 E Chicago Ave 630-355-2844.  Hours: Mondays “Open Mic” 8:00 pm; Fri-Sat 8:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Adults $20; Students with ID $15.  Enjoy a night of comedy with veteran improvisational actors who worked with The Second City, Comedy Sportz, Improv Olympics, and Noble Fool Theater. DuPage Dragons Baseball 5700 College Rd 630-241-2255. The DuPage Dragons are part of the Prospect League which
is a summer collegiate wood bat league.  See some of the best college baseball players compete during the summer.  All games are held at the Benedictine University Sports Complex.  Parking is free and tickets are only $6!  Season starts in June and runs through the end of August.

Wentz Concert Hall 171 E Chicago Ave Naperville, IL 630-637-7469. Box office hours: 10 am to 6 pm Tue-Friday. Visa, Mastercard, and American Express accepted.  North Central College’s Wentz Concert Hall is a premier 605-seat concert venue featuring concerts by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, recitals by soloists with the Lyric Opera of Chicago and Salzburg Chamber, including many other award-winning performances.  Visit their website for more information on tickets and upcoming performances.


Allgauer’s Grill inside Hilton Lisle/Naperville (3003 Corporate West Dr, 630-245-7650).  Hours: Mon-Fri 6:30 am to 10 pm; Sat-Sun 7 am to 10 pm.  Reservations highly suggested.  Allgauer’s is an exceptional restaurant featuring fine dining and great wines. Their menu offer an American cuisine with eclectic twist prepared with the freshest ingredients. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s a great place to host a power lunch meeting or a romantic dinner for two. Champagne Brunch is available on Sundays.

Dhuwan Cafe (2801 Ogden Ave., 630-717-6445).  Hours: Mon-Thu 11 am to 10 pm; Fri-Sat 11 am to Midnight; Sun 12pm to 9pm. American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover accepted. Free Wi-Fi spot. Enjoy some great Mediterranean food at Dhuwan Café. They serve traditional kabobs, falafel, salads, beef and chicken shawarma, and much more. Catering services available. Dine in or carry out.
