Travel season is here! This time of year, many of us will be packing up to spend time with loved ones or escaping the colder weather for a tropical vacation. Now is the perfect time to ask: Is your home ready for the trip?

If you're in the mood to stretch out, hit the open road, and get away for a few days — or even a few hours — you're in good company. And you're starting from the just right place. The Midwest is full of incredible sights and one-of-a-kind destinations, many of which are just a quick car ride away from Chicagoland.  Ready to go exploring? There's nothing quite like a beautiful spring day in Chicagoland! After a winter spent cooped up indoors, the first sights and sounds of spring can feel downright magical.  From the city to the suburbs, our area really blossoms to life come springtime. The sun peeks out from behind the clouds, the days grow warmer, the spring...

Do you believe in ghosts, or are you more of a skeptic? One USA Today poll suggests that about 45 percent of Americans believe in spirits and phantoms.  The good news? Most people aren't actually afraid of these specters; in fact, 43 percent say that they believe that ghosts are totally harmless. Maybe this is why, in a 2017 survey, 33 percent of prospective homebuyers said that they would be completely fine with living in a haunted house, and 25 percent said they would at least be "open to it" — especially if it came with perks like a price reduction, extra bedrooms, or access to a good neighborhood. 

Summer isn't over yet, and there's still time to take advantage of Chicagoland's many events and attractions before the leaves start to fall. But, if you're looking to spice up the summer routine without committing to the time or cost of a full vacation, here are some of the best spots to round-trip in a day.
