August Festivals in Chicago
August in Chicago has plenty of festivities to get your mind off the end of summer break. Grub, jam or watch things fly over Lake Michigan — there's a little something for everyone in the Windy City. Taste of Latin America - August 2 - 3 Celebrate all things Central and South American at the second annual Taste of Latin America. Cuisine, cooking demonstrations, live performances and arts and crafts are all part of this festival's mix. Northalsted Market Days - August 9 - 10 This popular festival is one of the largest in the city! Check out any of the 40 top-name local and national music acts playing on one of the multiple stages. You can also browse the nearly 300 food and arts and crafts vendors. Bud Billiken Parade - August 9 The Bud Billiken Parade has been held in Chicago since 1929, getting kids ready for their first day of school. Check out this lively display from all over the city, encouraging the youth of today to do well in school. Chicago Air and Water Show - August 16 - 17 Head over to the waterfront and watch planes do things you'd never want them to do if you were sitting in the cockpit. This free show can be viewed along the lake from Fullerton to Oak Street, with North Avenue Beach as the focal point. If you want to watch the air and water portions of the weekend, you'll need to get there early to grab a spot! Taste of Greektown - August 23 - 24 Enjoy a Hellenic feast, now celebrating its 25th year. Lovers of Mediterranean culture will enjoy the blending of old world tradition and modern cuisine and music. Bash on Wabash - August 23 - 24 The South Loop bring neighbors and businesses all over the South Loop together for a festival about beauty, creativity, history and culture.
