It is often said that the business of real estate is a contact sport. That's true in the sense that real estate transactions happen as a result of a long series of interpersonal conversations. I'm leading my introduction to you with this because I can tell you that, as a 41-year sales and customer service veteran, I'm highly skilled in moving transactions along and bringing them to a close.
It's also true that the business of real estate is a team sport in that many people contribute to a successful real estate transaction. When you hire me as your listing agent or buyer's agent you're hiring my team. This advisory team includes a 30-year mortgage lending veteran who has served all of that time right here in the Geneva-St. Charles office. It includes the Baird & Warner Title Services staff, Baird & Warner Fox Valley Branch Manager, Sales Support Manager, and Administrative Assistant staff. Also involved in your real estate transaction are attorneys, home inspectors, home repair professionals and maybe a few local government staff as well. As your team lead, I'll act on your behalf to ensure that all of the tasks are performed in the correct order and in a timely manner so that we can get you to the closing table with a minimal amount of complications.
On a personal note, I am the sixth generation of my family to be born at the old Copley Hospital in Aurora. I was raised on the west side of Aurora and attended the public schools there until junior high school when I moved out of state. I returned to Aurora in the early 1980s and have lived and worked in the Fox Valley area since then.
I attended Waubonsee Community College then transferred to Illinois State University where I graduated in 1985 with a B.S. in Marketing and a Business Administration minor. My entire professional career since then has been in direct sales and customer service.
Much of my free time is spent reading about, shopping for and selling antiques and vintage. I enjoy reading about historical residential and commercial architecture. I'm a beginner-intermediate guitar player who just can't get the hang of it. I'm a life-long music fan who has been an on-air disc jockey, managed retail music stores, worked backstage security at the Poplar Creek Music Theatre and had my own music video show on Aurora Cable Access.
Like so many other people, I joined the real estate industry in mid-2021 at the tail end of the 2020 real estate boom. It's no exaggeration to say that it has been challenging to find my footing in an extremely unstable market beset by low inventory and high prices. According to the National Association of Realtors about 81% of agents leave the industry within their first three years. But unlike those agents, I persevere. That's who I am. That's what I do. That's the mindset you should want in the agent that represents you.
