Having originally grown up in Dubuque, Iowa, Derek has been a Chicago resident since graduating college from The University of Iowa in 2010, purchasing his new two-flat home this past summer with his wife in Logan Square! Not only is Derek a first time homeowner, but he also became a landlord for the building, which is one of his many passions. Growing up as the son of a small business owner, as well as completing his college degree in Communication Studies and certification in Entrepreneurial Management, Derek puts his clients first above all else, as he truly understands the importance of active listening to ensure all of their needs are met and expectations exceeded when working with him. Having previously worked as a Senior Account Executive in the events and trade show industry, Derek decided now was a better time than ever to invest in launching his career in real estate, to continue to blend his passions for sales and marketing in a creative industry. Derek has always been an extremely motivated, driven, and competitive sales professional, who at his core, thoroughly enjoys helping others. Derek always guides his clients from start to finish, including details regarding design and creative ideas to ensure each space is unique to the needs of each individual client. Baird & Warner’s rich history and glowing reputation instantly attracted Derek as an organization he was thrilled to work for, and one that will propel his career forward throughout the Chicagoland area. Derek prides himself on being dedicated, transparent, and resourceful, always welcoming new clients with a big smile on his face and approachable nature. Each day is a new opportunity for growth, as Derek dives deep into the real estate industry, gaining intimate market knowledge and ultimately continuing to become a trusted advisor. With his client-centric work ethic, one of Derek’s goals in his career is to one day become a referral based agent, as this will showcase the strong relationships he has built and be a true testament to his success in the community. Derek gives back in more than one way to Chicago, also volunteering with Big Brother Big Sister of Metropolitan Chicago when he is not working with his wonderful clients!
