2023 Could Be Year of the Pinks
Pantone has spoken and the color of the year for 2023 is Viva Magenta. Self-described as “an unconventional shade for an unconventional time,” Viva Magenta is the pink-red shade from your most vibrant dreams, meant to promote a joyous and optimistic celebration, according to the color company.
Taking a bit of a jump from the bold but cooler-toned 2022 color, Very Peri, Pantone is hoping Viva Magenta embodies an expression of fierce grace. It speaks to the company’s desire to take on new challenges and try the unconventional, while meeting others with compassion.
And Pantone isn’t alone. Benjamin Moore just released their color of the year and it’s Raspberry Blush – a bold shade of pink-orange perfect for any color-stopper fans out there. Dunn-Edwards has released a shade perfect for competing with any trendy wall out there, called Terra Rose. Sherwin Williams’ color collection of 2023 is full of neutral pinks and purple-pink shades that may lack boldness, but fit in with the color scheme beautifully (their official color of the year is Redent Point).
Ready to bring some fierce grace into your own home? Whether you’re looking to repaint or just add in accents, here’s how you can incorporate 2023’s pinks into your own space.
Spruce Up Your Walls
Is it time to do a little repainting this winter? Adding in some pink hues can be a great way to add a pop of flair to any space. Consider a deeper pink, like the Viva Magenta, for spaces that command attention in your home, like the office, a library, or dining room. For rooms that offer a lot of sunlight, consider sticking with lighter tones to accentuate it, but throw in a bright accent wall to liven it up!
Add in Accent Pieces
You don’t have to take on a whole project to bring your room into 2023. As soon as Pantone announced the color of the year, brands were quick to highlight products that fall in line with the new hue. Decorative pillows, throw blankets and rugs are a great way to add in color without breaking the bank. If you’ve got a funkier style, find some great knickknacks that make a statement! If you’re more utilitarian, try updating your appliances with Viva Magenta, like this electric kettle, or even fun phone cords!
Go Outside the Main Areas
When revamping your home, don’t be afraid to zhuzh up rooms outside of your focal point areas. We’re talking about your office, bathroom, spare room, entryway – those places you don’t spend as much time in still make a difference for the overall home experience. Switching up your bathmats, hand towels and counter trinkets could be a cute way to incorporate pinks into your bathroom. A coat rack or bright wall hooks can add a pop in the entryway. Get creative! There’s many ways to add in this year’s new color without overpowering your home’s aestethic.
Overall, get ready to embrace the pinks.
