Kitchen Trends to Lookout for in 2023
Calling all kitchen lovers! And even kitchen neutral-ers. Did you know over the course of a year, it’s averaged that adults spend 400 hours in their kitchen? That’s around 67 minutes a day cooking, cleaning and living your best life in your kitchen space. That’s a lot to sink about!
So if you’re not feeling exactly at home in your kitchen, 2023 is the year to revamp. Luckily, the 2022 NAR Remodeling Impact Report did tell us that complete kitchen renovations and just a kitchen upgrade both scored a 9.8 out of 10 on the joy scale. So… let’s start planning. We’ve got the scoop on the latest prediction trends for kitchens in 2023. Here are a few of our favorites!
- Turn your kitchen into a multi-use space
Whether you’re in a big house, a tiny apartment or something in between, making as much use out of this space is going to be huge in 2023. I mean, we get why after going through 2020 to now, but there really are perks to opening the space no matter what the world has going on. Adding in the room for homework can keep your kids connected while you cook dinner. Or a space for card games when entertaining and cleaning up. Dream big, get multifunctional on us this new year!
- Forget backlash, get a backsplash
What more fun ways are there to spruce up your kitchen than by adding in a backsplash? Whether you want to go colorful, subtle, or textural, a backsplash is a great way to change the feel of your kitchen without having to do a complete renovation. It says “this is my style now!” to anyone walking through the door.
- Kooky hues on cabinets
Gone are the days of white, black or wood cabinets. We’re expecting 2023 to bring a little bit of funk with cabinetry in the world of color. This could be blues, greens, pinks, or something more subtle – just not boring white!
- Smarter appliances
Our kitchen appliances can do so much more than ever before. Why are we wasting time filling ice into ice cubes when there are fridges that will literally tell you the weather as you pour milk into your cereal? 2023 is the year of upgrades! New fridges, touchless faucets, timer coffee makers – we want anything that talks and walks and makes our life easier this new year.
- Bold islands
Kitchen islands are the centerpiece of your space. It’s where your guests come to mingle, your kids take the time to snack and catch-up and you do your last-minute work – it’s the holy grail of kitchen space. So why leave it looking boring? In 2023, we’re expecting a surge in bolder islands. From more colorful hues to adding in stone accents, or just mixing the metals around it, turn this staple into something everyone will comment on this new year.
- Make it feel like you
Overall, the main point of redoing your kitchen is to make it feel like you. 400 hours a year is a lot of time to spend in a room that leaves you feeling lackluster. Go bold, go simple and do your style but make it a space that you’re happy to be spending your days in.
