What To Do in Chicago This November

November is here and Chicagoland has a lot to offer for the month! How many of these local staples have you been to? Check out ten of our favorite things to do in Chicagoland this season.

#1. Find some goodies at Christkindlmarket

Since 1996, the German-inspired Christkindlmarket has been gracing downtown Chicago. This year, you can check it out in downtown, Wrigleyville, or the suburb of Aurora. Browse dozens of shops filled with homemade gifts, drink some warm mulled wine and don’t forget to pick up one of the famous mug boots!

#2. Hit the ribbon at Maggie Daley Park

Since you’ll be in the neighborhood, pop over to Maggie Daley Park for their ice skating ribbon! With a picture-perfect backdrop of the Chicago skyline, this activity is free Monday through Thursday and for certain timeslots on Friday through Sunday as long as you bring your own skates.

#3. Swing by the Thanksgiving Day Parade

New York, who? Why spend your Thanksgiving morning watching floats on tv when you can see them in real life at the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade? Find a spot on State Street bright and early, wave to all your favorites and make it home just in time for the National Dog Show (or to cook, both good options).

#4. Tap into magic at the Harry Potter Magic at Play

Whether you’re a local or just coming into town for the holidays, Chicagoans are buzzing about this Harry Potter experience. Coming to Chicago for a short six-month stint, this hands-on experience is a fun way for wizards of all ages to tap into their magic side!

#5. See wild displays at the Brookfield Zoo

Listen, we love Lincoln Park as much as the next Chicagoan – but the Brookfield Zoo has got one whirlwind of a holiday display. Bring your family or friends to the zoo for a late-night display of lights, animals and snack stands throughout the park.

#6. Light up your night at Lightscape

Starting November 11th, the Chicago Botanic Garden is showcasing an after-dark, illuminated experience for the ages! Bring your friends, grab some hot chocolate and take some pictures that will give anyone on Instagram some serious FOMO.

#7. Catch a show

This time of year is great for local performances! If you’re a Christmas Carol type of lover, you’ll want to watch the annual production held at the Goodman Theatre. More of a Nutcracker fan? Then swing by the Joffrey Ballet for a gorgeous performance. There are plenty of holiday classics all over Chicagoland to enjoy this month.

#8. Get amazed in Tinley Park

This year, the Amaze Light Festival is coming back to Chicagoland, this time at a larger venue in Tinley Park. If you like light-up exhibits and photo ops, then you’re going to want to check this winter wonderland out! Perfect for all ages, the Amaze Light Festival has a little something to get anyone in the spirit this year.

#9. Spend a day at Navy Pier

Navy Pier is always the spot for family-friendly entertainment, no matter what the season. This month, head down to the Pier for fun indoor activities like a 170,000 square foot Festival Hall filled with ice skating, kiddie train rides and so many lights. We even hear the ferris wheel gondolas are enclosed and heated…

#10. Grab a bite to eat anywhere

We didn’t become a food city for nothing! Whether you’re living out your dreams from The Bear by grabbing a sandwich at Mr. Beef, diving into a brisket eggroll at 8 Crazy Nights, or having an experience at any of our local amazing restaurants, there’s something for everyone!
