Visit the Adler Planetarium
If you’ve got extra space in your schedule on Wednesdays, swing by the Adler Planetarium. Every Wednesday between the hours of 4-10 pm, Adler is inviting Illinois Residents in for free. Have a dino-mite experience with SUE the t-rex and everything else under the sun at the Field Museum. This interactive museum is offering several free admission dates to Illinois residents throughout the next couple of weeks. Tickets are only available onsite and can’t be reserved in advance, so be sure to get there early. Visit the Field Museum November 8-9.
Illinois Holocaust Museum & Educational Center
The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Educational Center is home to a myriad of exhibitions meant to educate and inform visitors. Currently, on exhibition, you can see Zev & Shifra Karkomi exhibition, hear survivor stories from interactive holograms and learn about the Holocaust in the Soviet Union. Admission is free to everyone on the last Friday of every month.
Museum of Contemporary Art
If you’re feeling like a contemporary, this museum is for you! Walk through three floors of art exhibitions, grab a bite and check out the gift shop for some potentially very cool gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season. Design Museum of Chicago
Planning a perfect Chicago outing happens by design. That’s probably something you’ll learn at your free visit to the Design Museum of Chicago, anyway. Swing by the first-floor gallery space of Chicago’s Expo 72 Building to see at least their latest exhibition “Free & Open Chicago” starting this November!
Chicago Botanic Garden
Okay, this one isn’t totally indoors, so you might want to bring your jacket. But the Chicago Botanic Garden offers free admission dates to Illinois residents for a week both in November and December. Museum of Science and Industry
Quit feeling caught up in the metaphorical whirlwind and go experience the science behind a real one at the Museum of Science and Industry. From submarines to tornadoes and everything in between, this museum is sure to entertain all ages. Check out their latest exhibit, the world’s largest display of lego art, while it’s there. The Museum of Science and Industry is offering free admission on November 1 and 8 (and is always free to active military personnel and veterans, Chicago firefighters and police, and Illinois teachers).
