The annual Chicago Gourmet festival is one of the city’s most anticipated culinary events. A true foodie’s ideal celebration, the event takes place this weekend, September 27 through 29, at Grant Park and Millennium Park.
Presented by Bon Appétit magazine in conjunction with the Illinois Restaurant Association and Southern Wine & Spirits of Illinois, Chicago Gourmet aims to celebrate the city as a premier culinary destination all over the world. Over 150 of Chicago’s best local restaurants and chefs are featured, as well as breweries, distilleries and vintners. In addition to gourmet tastings, guests can also attend cooking demonstrations, seminars and book signings from top chefs and food writers.
Chicago Gourmet 2013 will kick-off tonight with the famous Hamburger Hop. Top Chicago chefs will compete to create the best burger. A panel of celebrity judges will choose the winner, and the audience gets to taste the various creations.
This year promises an incredible Grand Cru tasting each day from 2 – 4 p.m., presenting the world’s finest wines and top Master Sommeliers from across the country. The 2013 Grand Cru has also expanded to culinary tastings from ten internationally renowned chefs from all over the world. Each visiting chef has been paired with a Chicago-based, Michelin-starred counterpart to present a spectacular experience.
While some of the main events are already sold out, there are still daily tickets available for Sunday, as well as other popular events throughout the weekend. Grab them before they sell out!
