The William H. Emery Jr. House was built in 1903 for one of Elmhurst's Founding Fathers and was designed by Walter Burley Griffin, an internationally renowned Prairie School architect and city planner. While working with Frank Lloyd Wright, Griffin was the managing architect on several of Wright's early Prairie-style commissions and at the peak of his career, he was the most sought-after residential architect in the United States.
