What does your home have to offer that makes it different from the other listing down the block? Staging is a great way to showcase what makes your listing special, and help buyers feel at home from the moment they first drop by.
According to a 2017 study from the National Association of REALTORS (NAR), 77 percent of buyers’ agents say that “staging a home made it easier for a buyer to visualize the property as a future home.”
What’s more, according to the NAR report, buyers were more willing to walk through a home they saw online if it was staged (40 percent). This is important! With more than 90 percent of all home buyers conducting their search on the internet, making your listing leap off the screen with staging and photography is essential to getting would-be buyers in the door.
Bottom line? Making sure that your space is ready for buyers is a great way to entice them to take a look, and to leave a great first impression when they do.
Speed Up Your Sale
According to that same 2017 NAR study, 39 percent of sellers’ agents say that staging a home “greatly decreases the amount of time the home is on the market.”
When you stage your home, you make it more appealing to new buyers. A buyer who is intrigued and excited by your listing is often more likely to take action faster, particularly compared to a potential buyer who doesn’t really feel connected to the property.

Bring In Higher Offers
Staging isn’t just a great way to help market your home; it can also be an easy and effective way to make sure your final sale is as lucrative as possible.
According to the NAR survey, roughly a third of buyer’s agents said that staging a home increased the dollar value offered between one and five percent, compared to other similar homes on the market that were not staged.
Sellers’ agents agreed, with 29 percent reporting an increase of 1 percent to 5 percent of the dollar value offered by buyers, in comparison to unstaged homes. Another 21 percent of sellers’ agents actually noted that staging a home could increase its dollar value even more by as much as 6 to 10 percent.
What Goes Into Staging?
In the NAR report, buyers’ agents reported that the most important rooms to stage were the living room (55 percent), master bedroom (51 percent), and kitchen (41 percent).
Among sellers’ agents, many recommended smaller home improvement projects, including decluttering the home (93 percent), having the entire home cleaned (89 percent), and cleaning the carpet (81 percent). 80 percent even suggested quick “fixes” as easy as removing pets during showings.
What this tells us it that there are staging options out there that can help sellers see the benefits they want, often without having to break the bank or turn their focus away from the other important parts of their sale.
