As summer winds down and fall revs up, we’ll soon experience cooling temps, changing scenery, pumpkin-flavored everything and a ton of fun events and activities not to miss!

South Suburbs

The Hyde Park Jazz Festival is a free, two-day festival running Sept. 26 – 27, featuring the finest in local, national and international jazz artists  Don’t miss out on the live music, outdoor dance floor and artisan vendors.

How does a night of Dancing Under the Stars sound? This annual event returns to Tinley Park just as fall starts and the night air is still warm enough to enjoy. Come out with your dancing shoes, Sept. 19!

Enjoy a night of comedy and fun at Orland Park Improv. ‘No Limit Laughs’ is an improvised show set for Sept. 25 at the Orland Park Cultural Center.

City

If you’re a seafood fan you won’t want to miss out on the Shock Top Oyster Fest happening in Roscoe Village, Sept. 11 – 12. For the 17th year, this event kicks off with live music, arts and crafts, and all the oysters and culinary delights you can eat!

Bears fans unite! Show your fandom and come out for the 2015 Chicago Bears Shuffle, Sept. 10.  Register today for the chance to run alongside bears fanatics. Participants will enjoy a unique Bears-themed experience from start to finish, including a game day-like atmosphere, entertainment from the Bears Drumline, Monster Squad, Staley Da Bear and more!

Tis the season for Oktoberfest Chicago! One of Chicago’s most popular fall celebrations happens Sept. 25 – 27 and features beers, brats and pretzels along with music acts and family games and activities.

Don’t forget to bid farewell to summer with Navy Pier’s last Fireworks show, Sept. 5!

West Suburbs

Lions, tigers and bears — oh my! The Brookfield Zoo Run on Sept. 20 is a 5K held inside the Brookfield zoo dedicated to raising funds in order to help save species disappearing from the wild. Be apart of a good cause and stretch those legs!

Witness a 52-year tradition of fine art filling the streets of Oak Brook at the Fall Festival of Fine Art. The festival, which takes place on Sept. 12 – 13, showcases juried artists and the like. Aside from great art work, the festival will also have live art demos and music, as well as children’s activities and raffles. Come out to this exciting event and find that perfect piece of art you’ve been searching for.

Sink your teeth into Forest Park’s Annual Rib-fest on Sept. 12. Sample a variety of delicious ribs and enjoy live music, a BBQ contest, beverage stations, children’s activities and more. Let your kids get their face painted while you enjoy some throwback cover bands and a cocktail!

South West Suburbs

Get ready for a night of mystery and magic during Plainfield’s Full Moon Magic night, Sept 25. The night starts with a family magic show and and ends with a spooky walk through the park. So bring your flashlights, bug spray and bravery!

Looking for both the perfect way to spend labor day weekend AND kick off fall? Look no further. Frankfort Fall Festival is your answer. With over 300 participating artisans, unlimited entertainment and food, you won’t want to miss this. Kicking off on Sept. 3 – 7, the festival is known to bring the Frankfort community together and has been ranked as No. 1 in Illinois and No. 8 in the US!

Mark your calendars for Bike & Dine Lockport. Your guided bike ride will begin in the morning of Sept. 13, and make stops at various water spots in Lockport, while grabbing two different dining options along the way. Don’t miss out on this adventurous and delicious ride!

Northshore

Always dreamed of being a professional cyclist? Come get a taste at the 2015 Bike Winnetka event, Sept. 19. With different distance options for kiddos and adults, participants will get the chance to ride through scenic Winnetka in a group rider format. Don’t miss one of your last chances to enjoy the outdoors before the winter season strikes!

Grab your family and friends and head to downtown Libertyville for the First Friday on Main Street. Grab some dinner and then check out the fun filled street, complete with wine tasting, discounted shopping and music!  Mark your calendars for this fun first friday of the month, Sept. 4.

The Evanston Fill The Fairway, Sept. 19 – 20, is a unique campout event allowing families to set up camp on the fairway and spend the afternoon and night partaking in a ton of activities, events, workshops, raffles and entertainment. Start the day with rock climbing, roller skating or backpacking, and end the night with a midnight movie and a circus art performance! This is an event you won’t want to miss out on.

Northwest Suburbs

Hoffman Estates welcomes you for their Platzkonzert Germanfest, Sept. 12. The German-themed fest will feature authentic German food, beer, entertainment, and activities. If you come early enough you can participate in the Platzkonzert Germanfest 5K!

Warm up next to the Schaumburg Harvest Bonfire, Sept. 19. To celebrate fall’s chilly temps and beautiful scenery take part in a wagon ride through Spring Valley, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over an open fire and finish the night by enjoying a lantern-lit tour of the farm.

For the second year, Elgin will host their Fringe Festival, Sept. 17 – 20. This Scotland inspired fest, focuses on performing arts but also includes film, visual arts, music and more. Performances take place in downtown areas in cafes, theaters, storefronts and a variety of other locations.
