Spring Theatre Season

Live theater is an excellent way to spend an evening with friends, impress a date or introduce a child to the arts. Theatre has the power to transport the audience to distant lands and times. Be sure to book tickets for a theater in your area before the spring season closes.

Western Springs
The Theatre of Western Springs is on their 85th season with four more shows before the end of the spring season. See Picnic from April 24 – May 4 and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, a musical comedy, from June 5 – 15.

Arlington Heights
The Metropolis Performing Arts Centre is Arlington Heights’ hub for live performances. Half & Half, a comedy, will be featured from March 13 – April 13, and The Last 5 Years will be performed May 15 – June 15. For those who love comedy, see Side Effects May Include on April 26.

The whole family will enjoy performances of The Diary of Anne Frank from March 13 – April 11, Sleeping Beauty April 15 – 25, Alice in Wonderland from May 1 – 3 and Little Red Riding Hood from July 14 to 19.

Des Plaines
The Porchlight Theatre of Des Plaines is an award winning center for the arts. See How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying from April 26 – June 1. Also, for one night only, see Fade Out – Fade In on Wednesday, May 21.

Lake Forest
There is one show remaining at Lake Forest’s Citadel Theatre this spring. If you are in the area, be sure to see Cabaret from April 25 – May 25.

Elgin offers many live theaters within its borders. From June 13 – 29, the Elgin Theatre Company will feature the Brighton Beach Memoirs.

The Children’s Theatre of Elgin presents Robin Hood from April 24 – 27 at the Hemmens Cultural Center, and iSing from June 21 – 23, and June 28 – 30 at the Elgin Community College Blizzard Theatre. The Hemmens Cultural Center also offers ninety minutes of Improv with GreenRoom Productions on the first Friday of every month.
